25 YEARS OF DEMOCRACY – 8 MILLION CHILDLINE SERVICES
Childline Gauteng is proud to have contributed to building stronger families and children through the delivery of approximately 8 million services in the democratic South Africa!
We give thanks to our Creator for you, our members who have made this phenomenal achievement possible and have walked this journey with us for a quarter of a century.
We are distraught that our collective promise of a better life for all has not been realized and continue to dedicate ourselves to the provision of services and finding solutions with all our child protection partners.
We issue an urgent plea to all South Africans to restore our tradition of caring for our young in the interests of our children, grandchildren and generations to come.
As we approach the 6th democratic elections, we note the words of Father Thabo Makgoba, the Archbishop of Cape Town, successor to our Patron, Desmond Tutu: “In South Africa today we face a New Struggle, a struggle about values and institutions… we need to build strong systems… that work to improve the lives of all our people, especially those of the poorest of the poor.” He urges us to vote in the upcoming elections for those who will represent our values and will act in the interest of the country as a whole, especially to remove violence as a way of achieving our objectives.
Remembering that “It is easier to build strong children, than to repair broken adults”, we thank you for building Childline into a powerful institution able to deliver services to the vulnerable and work collectively for a brighter future for all.
